Image Compressor
Make JPG, PNG and WebP images smaller for websites, email and uploads. Compress up to 30 at once and download them as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.
- Add images to see how much smaller they get.
How to compress images
- Choose your images or drag them onto the box. You can add up to 30 JPG, PNG or WebP files.
- Move the quality slider. Each file shows its old size, new size and the percentage saved.
- Download one image at a time, or press Download all to get a ZIP file.
The images are processed by your own browser. They are never uploaded, so it is safe for private photos and documents, and it works even on a slow connection.
What quality should I use?
- 80 to 90: almost no visible difference. Good for portfolios and print previews.
- 70 to 80: the best balance for websites, blogs and email. Files are often 50% to 80% smaller.
- 50 to 65: very small files for quick sharing. You may notice softness in fine detail.
Why PNG files get much smaller
PNG is a lossless format, so photos saved as PNG are often several times larger than they need to be. In Automatic mode, the compressor saves PNG images as WebP, which keeps transparent backgrounds but is usually 70% to 90% smaller. If you need a PNG back, use the Image Resizer and choose PNG.
Shrink the dimensions too
A photo straight from a phone camera can be 4000 pixels wide, far more than a web page or email needs. Set Maximum width to 1920 px or less and the saving is often much larger than from quality alone.
When an image does not get smaller
Some images are already well compressed. If the new file would be the same size or bigger, the compressor keeps your original and marks it “already small”, so you never end up with a worse file.
Image Compressor FAQs
Answers about file size, quality and privacy.
Are my images uploaded?+
No. Compression happens in your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to our servers.
How much smaller will my images be?+
It depends on the photo. Large phone photos and PNG screenshots often shrink by 60% to 90%. Images that are already compressed may only shrink a little.
Will compression reduce quality?+
JPG and WebP compression removes detail the eye rarely notices. At quality 75 or above, most people cannot see a difference at normal viewing size.
Can I compress many images at once?+
Yes. Add up to 30 images, then download them one by one or all together as a single ZIP file.
Does it keep transparent backgrounds?+
Yes, as long as the output is WebP. Automatic mode turns PNG into WebP for this reason. JPG does not support transparency and fills it with white.
